Reviewer Background :
I'm a 26+ year multi-instrumentalist, making all types of music. I'm running Pro Tools LE 7.4 with my project studio. I'm an IK fan, but these are my first full versions of the IK libraries in my studio. Although I've worked with Sample Tank & Amplitube mostly, along with several other virtual instruments. My primary equipment is a Mac G5 (pre-Pentium), dual 2.7GHz, with added RAM (3.5G total.) My monitors are Event SP8's, w/ Tannoy 8 sub, and Rokit KRK 5's as my backup pair. I also use Sennheiser headphones, Presonus Central Station monitor router, and Hearback personal monitoring system in the studio.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Let me first say that this is a preliminary review. The more I get into this product, the more info I'll submit.

I'm sure the price and worth will be in the ball-park for me. I'm a writer, local producer & arranger, multi-instrumentalist and performer, so having this large sample library will be extremely helpful and useful. I haven't done much comparison with other products, except for the ideals of what I was looking for in a sound library and functionality, and the IK library seemed to be the most useful for what I needed. The Muse Receptor was just an added bonus, as I'm looking forward to it easing the CPU drain off my Mac, as well as eventually incorporating it into my live rig on select gigs.

The issues I'm having right now, and the reason I'm writing this review, is the connection with my Mac G5, OX 10.4.11. The Muse Receptor doesn't want to engage in Uniwire Enable mode, which is my preferred connection with my computer. I've spent a couple of hours trying to get the connection right, but thus far unsuccessful. I'm going to attempt to rectify the situation later this evening, digging further into the manuals. As soon as I get this thing running, I'll write back & let y'all know how it's going.

Let me say that the unit seems to be a very solid product. My buds like the look of it, too. Sharp, clean, nice color, professional appearance in the rack. The interface is small and minimal, and in my opinion this could be improved upon. But, I guess that's what the computer interface is for. It takes several seconds to start up & power down, but that's not really an issue with me. It comes with two cables, rack ears, the IK software CD's, but the instructions are so-so. Like I said, I hope to have this baby up & running soon so I can expand on my review here.

As an IK fan, I know I won't have a problem with the sounds or functionality of the libraries. I just hope the hardware doesn't drive me nuts. I'm almost positive, though, that if this unit does what it's supposed to to, I'll be a mucho happy camper.
