Reviewer Background :
I've been a composer/producer for 7 years, for all types music. No rap clients though. My tools of choice are Logic Pro with an RME Fireface.

I bought the Sonik Capsules Guitar Capsule 3-pack (3-CD set) which offers an Acoustic, Electric, and Bass library, mainly due to the soundclips on their website. It comes with a Universal installer for EXS, Halion, Kontakt, Battery, Reason, SampleTank, and others. I installed them as EXS24 and as SampleTank. The installation is automatic without a glitch.

Overall Rating : 7
Each one (Acoustic, Electric, and Bass) have a long drop down list of many, many types to choose from, i.e. Larivee, Gretch, Taylor, Martin, etc. with many versions and articulations. The same thing goes for the Bass and Electric. However within the EXS, there are several instruments not working (white noise) whereas the equivalent via SampleTank are OK. I haven't taken the time to troubleshoot though, because there is a full range of others to choose from. Some models are more outstanding than others.

These are mapped multisamples. No phrases as in Virtual Guitarist. They all come with fret noises, dynamics, sliders, mutes, etc.

At the time (2003), they sounded better than anything else I had, which were samples or onboard sounds within my keyboards. But now, standards have changed, and I'm sure my expecations got higher, because I'd say they are above average, but not spectacular. Trilogy is better for bass, RealGuitar is better for acoustic guitar IMO. Within a mix, though, you can get some semi-convincing performances. I'd say out of the three, the electric guitar is the weakest, but that wouldn't be a surprise. I'd say 7.5 for the bundle.
