I'm sorry to put this so bluntly to the developer but those akolades and credentials that you gave the designer only proved the point regarding the weakness of the sounds, it's probably hard for you to understand because its not just a case of compression and grunge, it's one of character and those soundmodules that the designer has created sounds for are what most hiphop heads try their earnest to stay away from, , now r&B, that's another story and more power to you on that front, but good hiphop artist wouldn't be caught dead making music with wack r&B beats/samples.
before you reply please do your research.
here is the clearest example I could come up with, there are alot of effx plug-ins that reduce bitrates, bitcrush, add dirt and there are alot of hardware boxes that have lo-fi settings and whatnot, but why do you think (or maybe you didn't even know) that the only bitreduced
sound fit for hiphop comes out of the sp1200 and the s950, ,, see you're sample designer probably wouldn't understand and would probably think just any box or plug in that produces 8bit/12 or any type of lo-fi sound is all the same. to a hiphop producer that would signal that
that your designer doesn't know hiphop or the sound that's garnered.

I've been proucing professionally for over 3 yrs, making primarily Hip Hop/R&B. I got these sounds around 5 months ago and I used them sounds in reason.
The signal path I heard the sounds through is digi002 into mackie 1604 vlz into wharfedale monitors.

This library was not worth the price tag in my opinion. Not to team up on the developer (I saw the other review), but the reason people buy drum samples & sounds from 3rd party companies on the web is because the "Hip Hop" drums on rack modules are usually useless. Now that I hear the "credentials" of MPC-samples sound designer, I can see why the drums sound the way they do (thin/not hard). I've worked with dmx, lloyd banks, rhymefest, papoose, lots of big rappers. I can honestly say, these sounds are NOT grungy or hard or "underground" at all. I can appreciate what they were going for, but the execution was a poor attempt at going for a market segment which they are obviously not familiar with, (Hip Hop).
Thanks.

I am director of sales for MPC-Samples.com and would like to respond to the review made by the anonymous reviewer, MJ.
The sample pack in question is advertised as 'heavily compressed' and 'hard' and is basically one of our more extreme hip hop packs, hence as the reviewer rightly states, are intended for 'dirty hip hop' and lo-fi. We openly advertise this pack this way - if less extreme sounds are required, we offer a wide range of sample packs on our site to cater for all tastes and suggest that people read the descriptions and listen to the demos available - these demos contain songs created using the sounds from the product; some demo downloads also contain actual WAV samples taken from the packs.
Regarding the opinion that the kicks are 'high pitched' - this is simply not factual, as for the snares being 'thin' we respect MJ's opinion but would again completely disagree with this view. We wish to point out that these sounds were created by one of Emu's main sound designers, Eddie Bazil from samplecraze.com, someone who is responsible for many of the sounds contained within Emu sound modules over the years including the current range of 'Street Kits' sounds for the Emulator and Proteus X. These are professionally created sounds by an artist endorsed by some of the leading sound companies in the world including Propellerheads and Kiesel. Winning endorsments and contracts from such prestigous companies is not something handed to a sound designer who creates 'thin' hip hop and dance sounds...!
If anyone has any questions about our sounds, please feel free to contact me through the contact details on our web site and I will be happy to assist.
Kind regards

I'm highly disappointed in this soundset. I loaded up all banks, all sounds and went through every sound. I then attempted to sequence some beats using a variety of the sounds. What a waste of time. Out of the 100's of kicks, only about 10 of them have any ooomph. The rest are high-pitched and pretty much useless for hiphop. The sanres are very vanilla and offer very little in the way of originality, let alone "phatness" as most of the snares are very thin and WAY TOO WEAK for hiphop. The high hats are virtually ALL lo-fi and again VERY LIMITED to one genre: dirty hiphop. Good luck finding anything crisp. Even the shakers are so lo-fi they sound fake and completely lack character.
I do NOT recommend this library OR the "Chunky Snares" library I also bought from mpc-samples.com. I completely WASTED $36 on these two sets and I'm very mad about it.
The two libraries I bought from this company SUCK. If they are indicative of the quality of the other libraries they offer, I would recommend you not waste a dime of your money.
